Neil Young - Comes A Time [1978] ... Rediscovered!!

Time has come for a Neil Young's album to be rediscovered and the lot fell to “Comes a Τime”, released in 1978.

Six years or six albums after “Harvest”, Young delivered a sequel to his chart-topping album. “Comes a Time” started as a solo record, until backing groups (including Crazy Horse for a couple of cuts) were brought in to goose up the sound. The easygoing charm is all 'Harvest,' but the excellent songs are distinctly its own. The songs, all originals save for a beautiful cover of Ian and Sylvia Tyson's "Four Strong Winds," continue to hold up remarkably well. Larson's backup vocals on songs like "Lotta Love" and "Look Out for My Love" (backed by a much smoother, less ragged-sounding Crazy Horse) are a particular standout, prompting Young sideman Ben Keith to call the late vocalist "the greatest harmony singer I've ever heard."

Smooth pop and romantic lyrical themes mostly fill Comes a Time, while a notable thematic song is "Already Gone," where Young pays tribute to his son. [ultimateclassicrock.com]

For many years it was rumored that Young had personally purchased some 200,000 vinyl copies of Comes a Time having been unhappy with the album's sound, owing to damage that occurred to the master tape during shipment to the mixing facility. In a March 2014 interview with Rolling Stone, Young claimed that he, in fact, used the 200,000 LPs as shingles for a barn roof. [rollingstone.com]

Have a listen to the songs to find out if Young was right or not!!
