Monday's Song : Daddy Cool - Eagle Rock [1971]

Today’s song comes from Australia and Daddy Cool’s debut LP “Daddy Who? Daddy Cool”, which was released in July 1971, reached number 1 and became the first Australian album to sell more than 100,000 copies.

The group's name came from the 1957 song "Daddy Cool" by US rock group The Rays. Daddy Cool included their version of this song on Daddy Who? Daddy Cool.

It is said that Elton John, who toured Australia during 1972, was so inspired by Daddy Cool's hit single "Eagle Rock" that, with lyricist Bernie Taupin, wrote “Crocodile Rock”
