Monday's Song : Iggy Pop – Isolation [1986]

"Got a lot to do, got a lot to say, got a life to live"

“Isolation”, a song from Iggy Pop’s “Blah-Blah-Blah” 1986 album, was a success, with a sturdy, steadily-building melody for which Pop gives his strongest vocal on the record. But while Pop declared “Isolation” mainly his doing, it’s arguably one of the most Bowie-sounding tracks on Blah-Blah-Blah.

Needed you, you were only using

Needing you just tore me down

And here I stand in isolation

Feeling emptiness and doubt

Walking down the broken highway

Sucking sugar plain and sweet

Did your mother ever tell you

That the joyful are free

Friday Rocks!!! ... with King Crimson

This Friday starts with an Epitaph, one of my all-time favourite songs and belongs to a band whose records I used to listen again and again.

"Heroes", the last song, is from King Crimson's 1976 live appearence in Berlin and "Robert Fripp reprise the unforgettable guitar role he created for the original David Bowie studio recording in the same city in 1977, particularly poignant in the year of Bowie's death" [www.dgmlive.com].

King Crimson - Epitaph (BBC Radio Sessions, 1969)

King Crimson - Starless (Live in Paris 1972)

King Crimson – Waiting Man & Sleepless (Live in Japan 1984)

King Crimson - The Light of Day (Live in Paris 2015)

King Crimson - Heroes (Live in Berlin 2016)
